Harlan’s second wine, The Maiden, is marvelous in 2005. Ripe, opulent fruit and notes of unsmoked high class cigar tobacco intermixed with creme de cassis, coffee, and asphalt are present in this round, superbly textured, rich, full-bodied, silky, beautifully wrought wine. It will drink well for 15+ years. - WA, RP (12/2008)

Tightly wound and closed, with notes of pencil lead and shavings, graphite, mineral and dried berry. The flavors are intense and persistent, without too much weight. This is graceful in its own way.--Non-blind Harlan retrospective (2010). Drink now through 2028. 1,850 cases made. — JL (11/2010)

Good full medium ruby. Sappy aromas of dark fruits, spicy oak and minerals. Wonderfully juicy and lively on the palate, with floral and mineral elements serving to frame and lift the dark fruit flavors. Very firmly built wine with terrific vinosity and balance. Almost too good for a second wine.- Stephen Tanzer (05/2008)
