Wine Futures are wines offered before they physically arrive in the U.S. Most commonly associated with Bordeaux’s En Primeur system, these wines are purchased while still aging overseas and are delivered after bottling and importation.
For Bordeaux, arrival is typically about three years after the vintage. For example, 2025 Bordeaux Futures are expected to arrive in the U.S. in 2028.
Please note that tariffs, duties, shipping costs, and other import-related charges may change before the wines arrive. Current U.S. tariffs on EU wine have recently been reported around 15%, though tariff policy can change before future vintages are released. Any applicable tariffs or import charges will be factored in at the time of final invoicing or delivery.
Purchasing futures can be a great way to secure allocations of sought-after wines early, especially from limited-production châteaux and collectible vintages. Availability is limited and subject to producer/importer confirmation.
