The second wine from Harlan Estate, the 2004 The Maiden shows plenty of cedary Christmas fruitcake and creme de cassis notes, a touch of vanillin and a rich, opulent mouthfeel (no tannins stick out whatsoever). The wine is plush, succulent, and altogether hedonistic and intellectually satisfying. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. - WA, RP (4/2014)
Full, deep ruby. Explosive aromas of red- and blackcurrant, tobacco, minerals and menthol. Sweet and fine-grained, with terrific fruit intensity and balance for a second wine-and a sense of completeness.
