The 1999 Bond Vecina 750ml is from the Napa Valley region of California. Bond Winery, inspired by one-of-a-kind Grand Cru Burgundian philosophies, makes terroir-specific Cabernet Sauvignon. Bond’s five cru’s (vineyards) – Melbury, Vecina, St. Eden, Pluribus and Quella – are located in different parts of the Napa Valley and have proven to consistently produce super high quality fruit. Proprietor Bill Harlan, along with Robert Levy as Director of Winegrowing, Cory Empting as Winemaker and Mary Maher as Vineyard Manager, are focused on fulfilling Bill Harlan’s vision of creating terroir expressions of the highest caliber that will endure for centuries. And based on critic reviews and market demand, they are clearly succeeding.

The 1999 Vecina, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon offering, exhibits aromas of graphite, tar, coffee, and creme de cassis. It is more austere and less charming and seductive than the 1999 "S". This powerful, muscular Cabernet will be at its best between 2006-2020.- Robert Parker Jr. (08/2002)

The 1999 Vecina is now fully mature. There is enough depth to support at least a few more years of drinking, but the 1999 is a wine whose time has come. Dried flowers, mint, sweet tobacco and licorice add complexity throughout, but the 1999 has begun to fray at the edges. Any remaining bottles are best finished off.- Antonio Galloni (11/217)
