The 2002 Bond Vecina 750ml is from the Napa Valley region of California. Bond Winery, inspired by one-of-a-kind Grand Cru Burgundian philosophies, makes terroir-specific Cabernet Sauvignon. Bond’s five cru’s (vineyards) – Melbury, Vecina, St. Eden, Pluribus and Quella – are located in different parts of the Napa Valley and have proven to consistently produce super high quality fruit. Proprietor Bill Harlan, along with Robert Levy as Director of Winegrowing, Cory Empting as Winemaker and Mary Maher as Vineyard Manager, are focused on fulfilling Bill Harlan’s vision of creating terroir expressions of the highest caliber that will endure for centuries. And based on critic reviews and market demand, they are clearly succeeding.

98 pts - Wine Advocate

["The 2002 Vecina comes from a vineyard not far from the steep hillsides of Harlan Estate, on the western hills of the Mayacamas Mountains overlooking the Oakville corridor and the eastern hillsides. This is a much earthier, spicier, more structured wine, much more masculine, with notes of scorched earth and almost Graves-like smoky, camphor and barbecue notes as well as black fruits galore. With its big, muscular structure and dense opaque/purple color, this wine actually seems younger in its evolution than either the St. Eden or Melbury. It is probably best forgotten for another 5-6 years, with another 30-34 years lifeline potential. It’s a sensational wine.- Robert Parker Jr. (06/2012)"]

95 pts - Wine Spectator

["Smooth, rich and polished, with a seductive array of blackberry, currant and black cherry fruit that glides across the palate. This is a complex, deeply concentrated wine with tannins that are ripe and round, even silky for its age. Best from 2007 through 2015. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 400 cases made. — JL (11/2005)"]
