Château Pédesclaux was founded in 1810 by Pierre Urbain Pédesclaux, a respected Bordeaux wine broker. He expanded the estate by acquiring parcels in the Grand-Puy area. Recognized for its quality, the estate was classified as a 5th Grand Cru Classé in 1855.
The estate changed hands over the years: Madame Pédesclaux managed it until 1891, when she sold it to Gabriel de Gastebois. Later, Lucien Jugla took over its management and purchased it in 1951, initiating a complete reconstruction to enhance quality.
In 2009, Jacky and Françoise Lorenzetti acquired Château Pédesclaux, launching a new era of innovation. Collaborating with Emmanuel Cruse (Château d’Issan) and Vincent Bache Gabrielsen (Château Lilian Ladouys), they transformed the estate through:
· State-of-the-art winery design by Jean-Michel Wilmotte
· Soil studies and replanting to optimize grape balance
· Commitment to sustainable and organic farming
These efforts have elevated Pédesclaux’s standing within Pauillac’s elite wines.
