Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Brane-Cantenac starts off a tad restrained and reluctant to show, opening out to notes of baked blackberries, plum preserves and crème de cassis with hints of cigar box and tar. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is wearing a lot of muscular fruit with firm, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with great length. Needs time!- Lisa Perrotti-Brown (03/2020)

The 2017 Baron de Brane has a tightly wound, very stony and slightly earthy bouquet, perhaps just a little dustiness to contend with. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin, just a little green around the edges with a generous pinch of black pepper on the finish. This will be an early drinking second label.- Neal Martin (05/2018)
