The 2012 Scarecrow Cabernet Sauvignon 750 ml is from the Napa Valley region of California. Scarecrow owes a lot of its value and reputation to its terroir and fruit. But there is also a story behind the wine that people connect with on a deeper level. The wine label is a nod to Hollywood legend, J.J. Cohn, who produced many well-known films, among them the Wizard of Oz. And the magic of this film is a perfect analogy for the life of J.J. Cohn. Born in Harlem in 1895 to Russian immigrants, he started as a bookkeeper and worked his way up to Chief of Production. He bought a Napa property as a vacation home for his family and turned it into one of the most sought-after vineyards in the country. Countless family and friends recount their fond memories of his hospitality and kindness, particularly his grandson, Bret Lopez, who obtained a sizable chunk of "Grandpa Joe's" land after his death in 1996. Lopez and the team at Scarecrow are proud to be part of J.J. Cohn's living legacy.
