As the pioneer of Rhone varietals in California, Alban Vineyards produces intense and age-worthy wines that critics and fans adore. John Alban saw the potential for the Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache, and other Rhone Ranger varietals before anyone else, planting in the Central Coast’s Edna Valley, thus he managed to optimize the quality of the final product. For Syrahs, which spend close to 42 months in oak, each label comes from a specific soil type and is named after a family member: Reva is named after John’s Mother, Lorraine after his wife, and Seymour after his father. You can expect these wines to have some of the most concentrated flavors you’ve ever tasted, and an age potential of two to three decades. Many of the wines have received high nineties, perfect scores and a placement in the top 100 lists. Sold by mailing list only, these wines are hard to get, making them all that more special.

Elegant, pretty, even finesse driven, with its classic marine and salty bouquet of smoke, purple fruits, olives and violets, this full-bodied Syrah has no hard edges, integrated acidity and a great finish.
