The 2008 Verite La Joie Cabernet 750 ml is from the North Coast region of California. Vérité has received a lot of press lately due to their seven 100-point scores they have received from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. This is the first time a Sonoma County winery has received this many perfect scores. Vérité has three red blends: Le Désir, predominantly Cabernet Franc supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, shows layers of concentrated fruit, exotic spice, opulent aromatics and a plush suede texture. La Joie exhibits the structure, depth and power of Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County, and takes inspiration from the lauded reds France's Pauillac. La Muse has supple fruit and spice, exceptional balance and impressive length, and is crafted primarily from Merlot in the style of the great wines of Pomerol. Pierre Seillan is the genius behind these wines. As vigneron (not just winemaker), he executes his vision from roots to release. He exploits the soil, which varies greatly even within their estate vineyards, to take full advantage of its potential. During our visit there a few years back we also got to see his intricate canopy system that ensures the grapes get just the right amount of exposure. And how he crafts the juice is truly an art form. Clearly, Pierre's decisions are turning out perfect, or near perfect, wine, and that is something you definitely want to try!

99 pts - Wine Advocate

["How much fun collectors will have comparing the 2007 and 2008 La Joies over the next three decades. A blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec (48% from Alexander Valley Mountain Estate, 34% from Chalk Hill and 18% from Knight’s Valley), the 2008 has similar technical numbers to the 2007 (a pH of 3.68 and 14.4% alcohol). Wonderful notes of roasted herbs, asphalt, black truffles, blackberries, cassis, camphor and subtle oak are present in the majestic aromatics. In the mouth, the wine is extraordinarily concentrated, pure and dense with amazing length. It is another 30-40 year wine that confirms the confidence the late Jess Jackson had in both his vineyard sources and his winemaker, Pierre Seillan. - WA, RP (6/2011)"]

["Very dry and earthy, with a strong leathery edge to the crushed rock and dried berry flavors, maintaining a rugged personality on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Best from 2004 through 2014. — JL (11/2012)"]
