Bold, ripe and expressive, with tiers of currant, blackberry, espresso and toasty oak that are exceptionally well done in this style. Superripe, verging on Porty. Some will find the flavors too ripe and that the heat on the finish pushes the tannins. Best from 2008 through 2013. 1,100 cases made. — JL (11/2006)
(15.9% alcohol): Healthy dark red-ruby. Rich, ripe, deep aromas of roasted red berries, mocha, truffle and caramel. Plush, smooth and very ripe, showing lovely pliancy and depth to its dark raspberry and truffle flavors. Turns a bit medicinal on the back end, finishing with serious, slightly rough tannins and a lingering medicinal quality. I find this in an awkward stage. For his part, Jayson Woodbridge suggests giving this wine another ten years in the cellar.
