The generic offering of 2001 Zinfandel Old Vines (a blend of many different components) exhibits a dark plum/ruby/purple color as well as sweet, ripe, berry fruit, but it lacks the complexity and generosity found in the other cuvees. Medium ruby. Reticent nose hints at blackberry, black cherry and pepper. Dense and creamy, with an expansive texture and very good flavor intensity. Nicely bright and juicy, but a bit more backward than the Juvenile.- Stephen Tanzer (5/23)
