Notes of cedar are gaining on the fresh black cherry scents in the terrific aromatics of the 2001 Reserve. This medium to full-bodied wine is satin-textured, pure, concentrated, and intense. Expansive, it coats the taster’s palate with red cherries, spices, and superbly ripe tannin. This blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 7.5% Cabernet Franc, and 7.5% Petit Verdot should be drunk over the next 15 years.- Pierre Rovani (04/2006)

Firm, with a tight core of cedary currant and dark plum flavors, picking up hints of earthy sage and dusky spice notes on the chewy finish. Needs time, but should develop well. Best after 2006. 2,217 cases made. — HS (09/2004)

(aged in mostly new barrels, about 4% from American oak) Good bright medium ruby. Very dark, primary aromas of cassis, violet and bitter chocolate. Juicy and tightly wound, with sweet but firm flavors of black cherry and licorice. Dry-edged, classic, very young cabernet for the cellar. Finishes with tongue-clenching tannins and very good length. This really calls for six to eight years of bottle aging.- Stephen Tanzer (11/24)
