The 2018 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru La Chatenière is showing especially well, exhibiting aromas of citrus oil, crisp green apple, white flowers and crushed chalk. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, with good depth and tension, concluding with a mineral finish.-WK

There is a touch of gunflint character to the cool essence of citrus-inflected white orchard fruit scents. The delicious and overtly stony medium weight flavors also flash a lovely sense of underlying tension on the sneaky long finish that would benefit from having a bit more depth on the ever-so-mildly warm finale.-AM

The 2018 Saint-Aubin La Chatenière 1er Cru comes from vines located on a west-facing slope with a little more clay mixed in with the limestone soils. It has a lovely bouquet of honeydew melon, grapefruit, orange pith and crushed stone, very well defined and focused. The palate is taut and fresh on the entry, featuring apricot and mango notes. The tropical notes are a little more heightened here vis-à-vis Colin’s other cuvées, due to the more clayey element in the soils, but the gorgeous, spicy finish leaves the tongue tingling long after the wine has departed. Superb.-NM
