Pernot's 2017 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles isn't as concentrated as his Folatières, but it's charming and elegant, offering up notes of ripe apples, Meyer lemon, pastry cream and fresh peach. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, glossy and succulent with a giving, open-knit profile. Readers looking for more tension will want to focus on the other premiers crus in the cellar.- William Kelley (01/2019)

Bright yellow with a green tinge. Less fruity and expressive on the nose than the Folatières, offering scents of crushed rock, mint, menthol and clove, with hints of honey and spices emerging with air. At once silky and tight, and drier than the Folatières, showing good lemony lift without any edginess. This rich, broad wine finishes quite dry and will need longer to harmonize in bottle than the Folatières. These vines are 50 years old, vs. 55 for the Folatières.- Stephen Tanzer (09/2018)
