2015 Moreau Naudet Chablis Valmur

The 2015 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru has a stern, saline, marine-influenced bouquet with a touch of oyster shell. I appreciate the typicité here, suggesting a north-facing part of the vineyard. The palate is very worked and phenolic, to the point where, unlike the aromatics, it seems to obscure the typicity and place of origin. The finish is more like something you would encounter in the Rhône. Odd - and it seems to deteriorate in the glass. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.- Neal Martin (11/2018)
