The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru offers plenty of candied orange peel intermixed with vanilla extract and frangipane aromas. The aromatics feel too keen to be loved, lacking restraint or a sense of terroirexpression. The balanced palate features lime cordial, orange zest and a twist of bitter lemon, showing moderate acidity but culminating in a rather obvious finish. To be honest, I encountered a much better bottle a few weeks earlier, hence the plus signs against my score. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.- Neal Martin (11/2018)
