The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs-Chenys Vieilles Vignes, from old vines below Charmes-Chambertin, is a touch more reserved than the regular Gevrey villages, opening in the glass with lovely aromas of wild berry fruit, mint and toasty oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, lavishly textural and deep, with serious substance and sappy energy, more seriously structured than the regular Gevrey villages too.- William Kelley (04/2018)

Good dark red. At once vibrant and a bit medicinal, conveying a menthol freshness to its flavors of red cherry and mocha torrefaction. Then youthfully imploded in the middle palate without being hard. This distinctly backward wine finishes with slowly mounting spicy persistence and hints of licorice and saline minerality. If this wine is slightly high-toned, that's only in the context of the Roty style, which typically features fairly low levels of total sulfur in the bottled wines but also low volatile acidity.- Stephen Tanzer (01/2018)
