A beautiful bouquet characterized by feminine floral tones and elegant accents of smoke, ash and crushed mineral distinguish this classic wine. The 2012 Barolo Gavarini Chiniera is a balanced and harmonious effort that makes you forget about the warm growing conditions in this vintage. The fruit ripeness and overall precision of the wine are impeccable. There's a touch of crunchy firmness in terms of tannins and the acidity adds brightness and energy. This wine should reach its drinking window in about ten years.- Monica Larner (06/2016)

This is spicy, with a layer of sweet oak adding vanilla and coconut to the cherry, strawberry, tobacco and tar flavors. Will need time for the oak to integrate, but the balance and tannins indicate a long life ahead. Best from 2020 through 2035. 1,000 cases made, 70 cases imported. — BS (02/2017)
