The 2011 La Mondotte has a very pure, defined bouquet that offers luscious dark cherries and blackberry scents, hints of violet petal emerging with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a silky smooth entry, very well-judged acidity and a seamless finish that slips down the throat with style. This is simply a gorgeous and voluptuous Saint Emilion that will seduce at twenty paces, which is something you could not ascribe to many 2011s. Tasted April 2015.- Neal Martin (07/2016)

Juicy, with lots of ripe plum, anise and blackberry flavors, mixed with licorice snap and Black Forest cake accents. The fruit is exuberant and filled out for the vintage, showing well-embedded acidity and excellent energy through the finish. Best from 2016 through 2026. — JM (03/2014)

Deep, opaque ruby. Wild, musky aromas of blackberry, raspberry reduction, coffee, violet and lavender are complemented by stony minerality on the captivating nose. Very concentrated, sappy wine with outstanding density of texture and saline, soil-driven flavors of red berries and flowers. Really stains the palate, and the strong but harmonious acidity extends the pure flavors on the back end. This calls for a minimum of seven or eight years of cellaring. Great wine, and one of the vintage's very best.- Ian D'Agata (07/2014)
