Starts smooth, rich and supple, with spicy currant, black cherry, wild berry and plum, with hints of black olive, cedar and cigar box. Full-bodied, firming on the finish. Very tight at this stage. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2010 through 2016. 424 cases made. — JL (10/2009)

Very good deep ruby-red. Deep aromas of black raspberry, cassis, mocha, leather and dark chocolate. Dense and broad but sappy, with lovely lift to the lush flavors of blueberry, brown spices and tobacco. An outsized, opulent Napa Valley red with just enough acidity to keep it fresh. In fact, I find this less roasted than the 2005 release. Finishes with huge, dusty, building tannins and excellent length.- Stephen Tanzer (05/2009)
