The 2003 Canon St Emilion 3 L is from the St Emilion region of Bordeaux.
A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc cropped at a low 28 hectoliters per hectare, this chunky, narrowly constructed St.-Emilion reveals elevated tannins, fig pudding-like fruit, medium body and an awkward finish. Drink it over the next 2-3 years as it will not get any better.- Robert Parker Jr. (08/2014)
Aromas of blackberry and lightly toasted oak with just an undertone of vanilla. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a lovely, silky texture. Best after 2010. 3,665 cases made. –JS WS
Moderately saturated medium red. Aromas of redcurrant, tobacco and smoky oak show good lift. Then distinctly tight in the mouth, conveying less richness than I expected to find. Notes of redcurrant, plum and spice. Not a particularly sweet style. Finishes with slightly dusty tannins.
