The 1995 Guigal Cote Rotie la Turque 750 ml is from the Cote Rotie region of Rhone. Guigal, founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in the ancient village of Ampuis, is in the heart of Côte-Rôtie. Beginning in 1923 at the age of 14, Etienne Guigal made wine for over 67 vintages before retiring and turning the reigns over to his son, Marcel Guigal, in 1961. Marcel's hard work and perseverance enabled the Guigals to acquire several other wineries to expand their portfolio of estate-owned vineyards, including Vidal-Fleury (1984), Jean-Louis Grippat (2000), and Domaine de Vallouit (2000). As of today, Guigal now draws their fruit from vineyards in Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Tavel and Côtes-du-Rhône.

100 pts - Wine Advocate

["The 1995 Cote Rotie La Turque (about 7% Viognier in the blend) possesses a dense ruby/purple color, and roasted herb, olive, and Asian spice characteristics. It exhibits exceptional concentration and is velvety and concentrated. The fabulous 1995 La Turque is a virtually perfect wine with flamboyance, harmony, and remarkable opulence and length. It should drink well when released, and last for two decades. - WA, RP (2/1999)"]
