About Screaming Eagle

Screaming Eagle's story began in 1986, when Jean Phillips, a former real estate agent, purchased a 57-acre property in the Oakville area of Napa Valley. The property already had vineyards, and at first she sold most of the grapes to other wineries. Inspired by the quality of the fruit, she decided to produce her own wine and, with the help of renowned winemaker Heidi Peterson Barrett, set out to create a world-class Cabernet Sauvignon that would express the vineyard's unique terroir.

The debut 1992 vintage was released in 1995 and immediately won critical acclaim, earning 99 points from Robert Parker. Production of just a few hundred cases added to its allure and rarity. Screaming Eagle's prominence grew with subsequent vintages, and the 1997 vintage received a perfect 100-point score from Parker, cementing its reputation as one of Napa Valley's premier producers.

In 2006, Jean Phillips sold the estate to Stan Kroenke and Charles Banks, and Kroenke later became the sole owner. The winery's focus remains on crafting small quantities of wine from its meticulously managed Oakville vineyards. Screaming Eagle has become synonymous with rarity and outstanding quality, and its wines consistently command some of the highest prices in the market, sought after by collectors around the world.
