The 2013 Roc De Cambes Cotes de Bourg 750 ml is from the Cotes de Bourg appellation of Bordeaux, France. Roc de Cambes, acquired by Francois Mitjavile in 1987, is produced in a very similar method to Mitjavile's first brainchild, Tertre Roteboeuf, and is a wine that is lovely to drink at the start, middle and end of its 5 - 20-year drinking window. The terroir, with its clay and limestone soils, is in the Cotes de Bourg appellation, which is 30 kilometers due south of Saint Emilion. The grape varieties, a blend of 75% merlot, 20% cabernet sauvignon and 5% malbec, produce a rich, deep, velvety style that Mitjavile is well known for in his other brands. Roc de Cambes is truly the best producer in the Cotes de Bourg appellation and is very close in quality to Tertre Roteboeuf, but at 1/3rd the price - an amazing deal!
