John Alban saw the potential for the Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache, and other Rhone Ranger varietals before anyone else, planting in the Central Coasts Edna Valley, thus he managed to optimize the quality of the final product. For Syrahs, which spend close to 42 months in oak, each label comes from a specific soil type and is named after a family member: Reva is named after Johns Mother, Lorraine after his wife, and Seymour after his father. You can expect these wines to have some of the most concentrated flavors youve ever tasted, and an age potential of two to three decades. Many of the wines have received high nineties, perfect scores and a placement in the top 100 lists. Sold by mailing list only, these wines are hard to get, making them all that more special.
