Dark ruby-red. Black fruits, flowers, roasted meat, minerals and expensive oak on the nose. The sappiest and thickest of these young 2001s, with outstanding creamy sweetness in the middle but also superb energy and cut. This densely packed, youthfully backward wine isn't carrying any excess weight. Intense, persistent dark berry and bitter chocolate flavors outlast the firm tannins. ST
