About Louis Roederer Cristal
Champagne Louis Roederer traces its origins to 1776 in Reims, France, and remains one of the rare great Champagne houses that is still independent and family-owned. In 1833, Louis Roederer inherited the company from his uncle and renamed it after himself. Under his leadership the house grew rapidly while holding to a philosophy of uncompromising quality, a commitment the Rouzaud family, his descendants, continues today.
The house's most famous wine, Cristal, was created in 1876 to satisfy the demanding tastes of Tsar Alexander II of Russia, who asked Louis Roederer to reserve the house's finest cuvée for him each year. It was presented in a flat-bottomed, transparent lead-crystal bottle, and the wine was named after this precious material. Cristal became commercially available in 1945 and has since become one of the world's most celebrated prestige Champagnes, joined later by Cristal Rosé.
At Aabalat Fine & Rare Wines, we offer a changing selection of Cristal vintages. Explore the available wines below to find your next addition to the cellar.
