The Leroy name covers three related but distinct Burgundy enterprises, all shaped by Lalou Bize-Leroy, one of the most influential figures in modern Burgundy.

Maison Leroy is the family's négociant house, founded in Auxey-Duresses by François Leroy in 1868. Lalou joined the family business in the 1950s and went on to run it. As a négociant, Maison Leroy buys wine and selects only what meets its standards, and it is famous for holding back exceptional stocks of older vintages, often releasing wines decades after the harvest. The Leroy family is also a long-standing co-owner of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and Lalou co-directed DRC until 1992.
In 1988 Lalou founded Domaine Leroy in Vosne-Romanée, built around the purchase of the Domaine Charles Noëllat vineyards, so that the family would have estate-grown wines from its own vines. The domaine's holdings include grand crus such as Chambertin, Musigny, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Clos de Vougeot, Clos de la Roche and Corton-Charlemagne. It has been farmed biodynamically since 1988, and Lalou is regarded as a pioneer of biodynamics in Burgundy. Yields are extremely low, and the wines are known for their purity, concentration and ability to age.

Domaine d'Auvenay is Lalou Bize-Leroy's own small estate, based at a farmhouse in Saint-Romain near Meursault. With only about four hectares spread across many appellations, including Chevalier-Montrachet, Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Mazis-Chambertin and Bonnes-Mares, it makes tiny quantities of some of the most sought-after wines in the world.
