Extremely ripe aromas of roasted earth, coffee, spice and intensely perfumed black cherries combine with very structured, robust, remarkably complex and precise, full-bodied, sweet, chewy flavors that seem to go on and on. But the quality that impresses me the most is with all of this muscle and power, there is near perfect harmony and balance. This should be capable of aging well for at least two decades. Bright ruby-red. Tangy, fresh, very complex nose combines blackberry, blueberry, redcurrant, tobacco, violet, espresso and minerals. Tightly wound and rather unforthcoming today (this was bottled last April), but shows superb freshness and clarity. Hints of berries and minerals. Finishes very firm and tight but not hard, with excellent length. I wouldnÂ’t go near this wine for six or seven years.- Stephen Tanzer (3/24)
