Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Grand Mayne features scents of warm black and red plums, boysenberries and fragrant earth plus wafts of cedar, unsmoked cigars and bay leaves. Medium-bodied, the palate has a rugged, chewy frame and just enough savory flavors, finishing on a stewed tea note.- Lisa Perrotti-Brown (03/2020)

Well-focused, with bright raspberry, plum and red licorice notes racing along, set against a backdrop of brambly structure.-JM

The 2017 Grand Mayne has an attractive bouquet with red cherries, wild strawberry and blackcurrant, hints of humidor and clove emerging with time. There is clearly impressive intensity here in the context of the growing season. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins. There is superb freshness and cohesion with supple, lithe red berry fruit mixed with white pepper and bay leaf on the finish. This is an excellent wine from Jean-Antoine Nony and his team.-NM
