Profound red cherry and rose aromas are found in the aromatics of the medium to dark ruby-colored 1997 Grands-Echezeaux. Baked mixed berries and Asian spices are found in this velvety-textured, wide, super-rich, rather thick wine. Medium to full-bodied, highly concentrated, and judiciously extracted, it is hugely flavorful and opulent, yet well-structured. This exceptional wine should be at its peak of maturity between 2002-2012. RP

Deep red-ruby. Complex, perfumed aromas of jammy black raspberry, clove, fresh blood and sweet Allier oak. Velvety yet penetrating, with sharply defined mineral and game flavors. Firm but not tough; offers good grip for the vintage and subtle persistence. Quite stylish,- Stephen Tanzer (3/1999)
