Domaine Dujac is a relatively young name in Burgundy, where an estate founded in the late 1960s still counts as contemporary. In 1967, Jacques Seysses, a passionate lover of fine food and wine and the son of a successful biscuit manufacturer, purchased a small domaine in Morey-Saint-Denis. Having spent time learning the craft in Burgundy, he began farming the estate vines and buying fruit from neighbors, relying on his keen palate to guide the winemaking. Dujac became known for its whole-cluster fermentation, and the first wines, bottled in 1969, were quickly embraced by fine restaurants.
Three decades later, the next generation took the reins. Jacques's son Jeremy joined the domaine in 1998, followed by Jeremy's wife, Diana, and his brother, Alec. Under their direction the domaine has refined its approach, destemming some of the fruit in certain vintages and using less new oak, producing a style that differs from the Dujac wines of the 1970s and 1980s while keeping the house's signature elegance.
Over the years, Dujac has added holdings in some of Burgundy's most prestigious vineyards, including Grand Cru sites such as Clos de la Roche, Clos St-Denis, Bonnes-Mares, Échezeaux, Charmes-Chambertin, Chambertin and Romanée-Saint-Vivant, establishing itself as one of the Côte d'Or's premier domaines.
