Colgin Cellars produces exquisitely handcrafted red wines using only the finest neo-classical winemaking methods in concert with small yields, gentle handling, attentive sorting and meticulous blending. The Colgin winery, completed in 2002, is located at the northern end of IX Estate in the Pritchard Hill area of St. Helena, California. Founded in 1992 by Florida art dealers Ann Colgin and Fred Schrader, Colgin impressed critics early on with their Herb Lamb Vineyard, at the base of Howell Mountain, cabernet. Their rich wines have just the right amount of silkiness and supple tannins, driving demand through the roof and a long waitlist for purchasing their wines.

There are 550-cases of the perfect 2007 Cariad (original rating was 99), a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and the rest equal parts Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. One of northern California’s watershed vintages for Bordeaux varietals, according to Allison Tauziet, this wine revealed great potential from the day the first grapes were crushed.
