A very strong effort, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a sweet perfume of blue and black fruits intermixed with hints of toasty oak, graphite, truffles, and forest floor. Full-bodied, rich, and concentrated with remarkably silky tannins for a 2006, it will benefit from 3-4 more years of cellaring, and should keep for 20-25 years. This superb 13-acre hillside vineyard on Pritchard Hill, one of the great sites in Napa, has produced some remarkable wines. I recently had the compellingly perfect 1997, which continues to age at a glacial pace. - Robert Parker

Bright, dark ruby. Superripe aromas of raspberry compote and graphite minerality are complicated by a touch of herbs. In a rather muscular, backward style and a bit tough to taste today. Displays the slightly earthy, autumnal qualites often found in the '96s but also possesses very good bite. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins. Much less opulent than the 2007. Bettina Bryant noted that this wine was a bit rustic in its youth, and it still needs further aging.- Stephen Tanzer (05/2017)
