The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits an opaque blue/black/purple color, followed by sweet cassis aromas intermingled with scents of earth, spice, smoke, and grilled meats. This dense, powerful, muscular, concentrated wine provides an enormous mouthfeel. Wineries need more than luck to produce multi-dimensional wines with this concentration, ripeness, sweetness of fruit, and overall intensity and complexity. - Robert Parker

This is a dark, sharply focused, richly flavored wine, brimming with pure cherry, currant, mineral, sage and spice. Has the tannic strength to age. Being mostly Cabernet, this contrasts nicely with Dalla Valle's Maya, a blend that's about 50 percent Franc. Best from 2001 through 2008.

Deep ruby. Floral aromas of blackberry, cassis and mint, plus a pungent oak note of mace. Less dense than the '96 but extremely intensely flavored and penetrating. Fruit-driven wine, less sweet than the '96 despite a flavor of dark chocolate. Gives an impression of higher acidity, like so many '95s. Tannins are currently a bit spiky and in need of cellaring.- Stephen Tanzer (7/1999)
