Few domaines in Burgundy are as intrinsically linked to a single great vineyard as Albert Grivault is to Meursault Perrières.

At the very heart of this legendary Premier Cru lies the Clos des Perrières—the finest parcel of Perrières and owned entirely by Domaine Albert Grivault. With 2.54 hectares in Perrières overall, Grivault is the largest landholder in the vineyard, and its Clos has long been whispered about in the same breath as the great Grand Crus of the Côte de Beaune.

Founded in the 19th century, the domaine is today guided by Albert Grivault’s grandson, Michel Bardet, alongside his daughter Claire, preserving a deeply Burgundian, family-run legacy. After Albert’s passing, much of the production was sold via métayage arrangements to top négociants—among them Lalou Bize-Leroy, who still purchases Perrières from Grivault today. Domaine bottling resumed in earnest in the 1970s and 1980s, returning the wines to their rightful identity.

Michel Bardet continues to lobby for the Clos des Perrières to be elevated to Grand Cru status. Extensive soil studies show it to be fundamentally distinct from the rest of the climat, and its south-southwest exposure mirrors that of Montrachet itself. The enclosing stone walls amplify sunlight, creating a warmer mesoclimate that consistently produces wines of remarkable depth, energy, and longevity.
