Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has a classy and sophisticated bouquet with pure, mineral-drenched red berry fruit, superb delineation, an almost pastille-like purity. The palate is very harmonious with supple red cherry and strawberry fruit, seamlessly integrated new oak, quite a sensual Musigny if not quite as aristocratic as another growing season might bestow. It is sheer pleasure, especially on the sorbet-fresh finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is deeply impressive. Tasted September 2016.- Neal Martin (11/2016)
