About Abreu Vineyards
David Abreu grew up in the world of vineyard management, learning the craft from his father and grandfather. After running a successful vineyard management firm that farmed vineyards for renowned estates such as Staglin, Araujo and Spottswoode, he began bottling wine under his own label in 1987 with grapes from Madrona Ranch. Then, as now, nearly all of it was sold through a mailing list.
Alongside winemaker Brad Grimes, a chef turned winemaker, David Abreu produces a small quantity of single-site Cabernet blends from Cappella, Howell Mountain (Las Posadas), Madrona Ranch, Rothwell Hyde and Thorevilos. Over more than three decades, these wines have earned a reputation as some of the most stunning, world-class red wines in California.
