Screaming Eagle

Screaming Eagle Winery has a fascinating history that began in 1986 when Jean Phillips, a former real estate agent, purchased a 57-acre property in the Oakville region of Napa Valley, California. At the time, the property had existing vineyards, and Jean decided to embark on a winemaking adventure.

Initially, Jean sold most of the grapes from the vineyard to other wineries. However, after tasting the exceptional quality of the fruit, she was inspired to produce her own wine. With the help of renowned winemaker Heidi Peterson Barrett, Jean set out to create a world-class Cabernet Sauvignon that would be a true expression of the vineyard's unique terroir.

The debut vintage of Screaming Eagle was released in 1992, and it immediately garnered critical acclaim. The wine caught the attention of wine enthusiasts and collectors for its exceptional quality, depth, and complexity. Its small production, limited to just a few hundred cases, added to its allure and rarity.

Screaming Eagle's rise to prominence continued with the release of subsequent vintages. The 1997 vintage, in particular, received a perfect 100-point rating from influential wine critic Robert Parker, further cementing its reputation as one of Napa Valley's premier producers.

Over the years, Screaming Eagle has maintained its commitment to producing exceptional wines. The winery's focus remains on crafting limited quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from its meticulously managed vineyards in Oakville.

Screaming Eagle has become synonymous with rarity, luxury, and outstanding quality. Its wines consistently fetch some of the highest prices in the market, and they are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. The winery's name has become a symbol of excellence in Napa Valley and a benchmark for fine wine production.

Today, Screaming Eagle Winery continues to be led by a dedicated team of viticulturists and winemakers who carry forward the vision and commitment to quality established by Jean Phillips. While its production remains small, Screaming Eagle's impact on the world of wine is immense, and it remains an icon of California winemaking and a testament to the potential of Napa Valley's terroir.
