For seasoned Burgundy collectors, the name Domaine Anne et Hervé Sigaut is a familiar whisper – an under-the-radar estate in Chambolle-Musigny producing terroir-driven wines of quiet brilliance. With vineyard holdings limited to Chambolle and Morey-Saint-Denis, and deep vine age across their parcels, the domaine has built a loyal following among those who prize authenticity and finesse.
The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny “Les Bussières” Vieilles Vignes is a prime example of the domaine’s craftsmanship, and a wine that significantly overdelivers for its villages-level classification.
Why It Belongs in Your Cellar:
-
Old Vines, Elite Neighborhood: Sigaut’s vines in Les Bussières average 60 years of age, planted on a terroir that borders Morey-Saint-Denis and sits just beneath Premier Cru Les Sentiers—with Roumier’s Clos de la Bussière next door.
-
Serious Elevation in 2022: In a vintage celebrated for balance and expression, this wine shows unmistakable Premier Cru character—deep, complex, and built for aging.
-
Low Production, Collector Interest Growing: The domaine’s commitment to traditional, low-intervention farming and their minuscule production means allocations remain tight and increasingly sought-after.
91+ Points, John Gilman, View from the Cellar:
The vineyard of les Bussières is another top villages level lieu à dit in the commune of Chambolle, located on the northern end of Chambolle on the Morey border, with the premier cru of les Sentiers just above it on the slope and the Roumier family’s Clos de la Bussière next door to it. The Sigauts’ vines here average sixty years of age and Anne raises this wine in thirty percent new oak casks each year. The 2022 les Bussières is excellent, displaying a lovely sense of sappiness on the nose, as it offers up scents of plums, black cherries, raw cocoa, pigeon, woodsmoke, a lovely base of chalky soil tones, peonies and a nice touch of new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, sappy at the core and complex, with a lovely signature of soil, ripe, seamless tannins, fine focus and grip and a long, well balanced and promising young finish. This is a superb bottle in the making and unequivocally of premier cru quality in 2022! 2035-2075.
