The 1990 Sassicaia, Tenuta San Guido 750 ml is from the Tuscany region of Italy. Sassicaia, from the Tuscan coastal area of Bolgheri, was established in the 1940s and sold publicly since the 1968 vintage. A blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, Bordeaux-style grapes, Sassicaia has a terroir on the Tenuta San Guido estate and winemaking barriques that mimic that of Graves, Bordeaux. Sassicaia is not only the most collectible Italian wine, but the vision of its founder, Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, who wanted a bouquet and age-worthy elegance like that of Bordeaux, made a ground-breaking change to the world’s perception of fine Italian wine. Wines of this caliber from this region are now called “Supertuscan.”

94 pts - Wine Advocate

["The 1990 Sassicaia appears to be the finest wine made at this estate since the nearly perfect 1985. It boasts a saturated purple, almost bluish color, and a sensational yet unevolved and youthful aromatic profile of sweet, nearly over-ripe blackcurrants

93 pts - Wine Spectator

["A sexy wine that has gained somewhat since 1993 when we rated it 90 points. Not as powerful as the '88, nor as rich as the '85, this is still prototypical Sassicaia for its great complexity. Offers mineral, lead pencil, tar, cassis and black olive notes
