About Kosta Browne
Kosta Browne is known for intensely flavored, balanced Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast and Santa Lucia Highlands appellations. Founders Dan Kosta and Michael Browne were friends working together at John Ash & Co. restaurant in Santa Rosa when they pooled their tips to make their first barrel of Pinot Noir.
A few years later, a business plan, capital from angel investors and a new partner, Chris Costello, helped the business take off. Rising from garage-scale beginnings in 1997 to a 95-point score from Wine Spectator for the 2003 vintage was a remarkable achievement.
That success has continued, making Kosta Browne one of California's most sought-after Pinot Noir producers. Its 2009 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir was named Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year.
