La Lagune's seductively-styled 1995 displays a dark ruby color, as well as copious amounts of black cherry, kirsch, and plum-like fruit nicely dosed with high quality smoky, toasty oak. This medium-bodied, elegant, round, generous, charming wine can be drunk young, or cellared for a decade or more. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2012.- Robert Parker Jr. (02/1998)

Slightly one-dimensional, with good blackberry aromas and flavors, medium body and medium tannins. Drink now through 2002. — JS (09/1998)

Saturated red-ruby color. Redcurrant, tobacco, smoked nuts and oak spice on the nose; less lively than the '96. Sweet entry, then firm and rather withdrawn. Gives an impression of higher acidity and less ripeness than the '96, but grew suppler and sweeter with aeration. Still, the tannins here are a bit more obtrusive. Finishes with notes of black cherry and herbs.- Stephen Tanzer (05/1998)
