The 1970 Les Forts de Latour Pauillac 750 ml is from the Pauillac region of Bordeaux. Chateau Latour is situated at the southeastern tip of Pauillac, in the Medoc region of Bordeaux. Along with its Grand Vin label, Latour also produces Les Forts de Latour as a second wine and “Le Pauillac” as a third wine. While the written history of the Latour terroir dates back to 1331, thriving vineyards, as we know of Latour today, didn’t take hold until about 1700. Land owners and winemakers have changed many times, but the demand for this premium wine has remained of the upmost highest echelon for the past 300 years. In fact, even in 1767 the price of a barrel of Latour was 20 times more expensive than a typical Bordeaux wine. Their ability to achieve excellence remains consistent, as evidenced by their high ratings and high demand.

["This very fine wine is fully mature, and ideally requires consumption. Very dark ruby, with a smooth, round, ripe black currant and cedar bouquet, savory, full, generous flavors, and a slightly tart, acidic finish that detracts from an otherwise fine performance in 1970. Drink now. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 1/85.- Robert Parker Jr. (01/1998)"]
