This wine is made from 30-year old ungrafted Tinta de Toro vines, and cropped at a mere 22 hectoliters per hectare. It enjoyed malolactic fermentation as well as 20 months aging in French oak barrels (20% new). There are 1,000 cases of the USA. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by a sweet perfume of vanilla and black currant fruit. The wine is medium to full-bodied, with excellent purity, and light tannin in the mouth-filling finish.- Robert Parker Jr. (06/2002)
