A classic vin de garde, the dense dark ruby/purple-colored 1998 reveals subtle notes of minerals, black raspberries, cherries, and smoky oak. Medium to full-bodied, extremely well-delineated, and moderately tannic, it requires 3-4 years of cellaring. Patience will be a virtue. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2018.- Robert Parker Jr. (04/2001)

Bright red-ruby. Highly perfumed nose combines cherry, raspberry, currant and nutmeg. Dense and silky but also bright and nicely delineated; mint and spice notes contribute to its juicy quality. Finishes with slightly dry but even tannins and very good persistence.- Stephen Tanzer (5/21)
