Lalou joined the family business in the 1950s and went on to run it. As a négociant, Maison Leroy buys wine and selects only what meets its standards, and it is famous for holding back exceptional stocks of older vintages, often releasing wines decades after the harvest. The Leroy family is also a long-standing co-owner of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and Lalou co-directed DRC until 1992.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eDomaine Leroy\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 1988 Lalou founded Domaine Leroy in Vosne-Romanée, built around the purchase of the Domaine Charles Noëllat vineyards, so that the family would have estate-grown wines from its own vines. The domaine's holdings include grand crus such as Chambertin, Musigny, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Clos de Vougeot, Clos de la Roche and Corton-Charlemagne. It has been farmed biodynamically since 1988, and Lalou is regarded as a pioneer of biodynamics in Burgundy.
